Concepts

Copywriting's about so much more than sticking some words on a page.

One of my absolute favourite things to do is sit with a blank sheet of paper and dream up the best way of showing a message, not just saying it.

I'm then lucky enough to work with brilliant designers who turn my sketches and copy into the real deal. Phew.

Here's a sneak peak at my back catalogue of doodles which made the cut and were turned into final creative.
Red Nose Day school fundraising pack concepts for Comic Relief
The brief: How can we present all these wonderful resources in a more orderly way, rather than just sending teachers a booklet and a load of of A4 sheets and balloons that go everywhere?!

Et voilà, a 'foldy foldery' idea to keep everything together, with a little pocket to hold the fundraising guide. Sadly the print budget put paid to the fold-out idea, but the pocket at the back of the A4 guide has been a feature for every Red Nose Day since.

The brief: We need to build excitement about Red Nose Day and there'll be loads of families at CarFest. How about some kind of treasure hunt for the kids?

Ruby Hotels window vinyls.
The brief: We need to hide the building work that's happening behind these windows. Think of something to make it look good and explain what's happening. In line with the hotel's vintage travel theme.

Red Nose Day thank you for Comic Relief - A5 postcard
The brief: What a brilliant Red Nose Day! How can we thank our supporters in a uniquely Comic Relief way?
[Hats off to the designer for thinking of the inverted heart idea. What a stroke of genius! And Lenny Henry went on to use my silly line in a video thank you, too - amazing.]
